Our Name
Okyrroi was an Oceanic nymph of mythology, daughter of the ocean. The god Apollo was fascinated by her unique beauty and fell in love with her. Okyrroi rejected him romantically. He, being unable to accept the rejection, did not stop claiming it. One day, Okyrroi wanted to escape and so she dived into her element, the sea, and began to swim away from him.
The god Apollo spotted her and turned her into a rock, wanting to keep her captive to his love forever.
The design of our building is based on the transitions between water and land and is thus deeply connected to the story above where the Oceania nymph became a rock.
Tinos
The island of Tinos is an ultimate tourist destination, marveled for its natural beauty and its unique cultural history, while it never ceases to be the home of the locals. Thus, any architectural project should respect both aspects of this place and contribute to the high-quality life of visitors and the indigenous people.
This is the mentality behind our approach to projects, some of which have been published in architecture magazines, or nominated for an esteemed Contemporary Architecture prize.
